Why an Imported iCal Feed Stopped Syncing (and How to Re-enable It)

Help with iCal syncing issues

Lodgix imports availability from external iCal feeds (for example, a calendar from another platform) and periodically polls each feed for changes. If a feed repeatedly fails to load — usually because the source URL changed, expired, or the other platform stopped serving it — Lodgix marks the feed as having an error and can automatically disable it so it stops trying. This article explains how to spot a disabled feed and turn it back on. (If your problem is the opposite direction — a Lodgix calendar link you pasted into another tool — see Sync Calendars Using iCal.)

How to Tell a Feed Stopped Syncing

  • The iCal import link shows an error state (it has been failing since a date Lodgix records).

  • Availability from that source is no longer updating in your calendar.

  • A feed that keeps failing is marked disabled and will not be polled again until you re-enable it.

How to Fix and Re-enable It

  1. Open your iCal import links (see Importing Multiple iCal Feeds into Lodgix for where these are configured).

  2. Find the feed showing an error.

  3. Check the source URL first. The most common cause is that the URL on the other platform changed or expired. Copy a fresh iCal URL from the source. If the URL changed, remove the old link and add the new one — removing a feed deletes the calendar blocks it imported, and they are re-created when the new feed syncs — then go straight to step 5. If the URL is unchanged, continue to the next step.

  4. Re-enable the feed. This clears the error and resumes automatic polling.

  5. Run a manual sync to pull availability immediately rather than waiting for the next scheduled poll.

If It Keeps Failing

  • Open the failing iCal URL in a browser — if it does not display or download a valid calendar file, the problem is on the source side, not in Lodgix.

  • Make sure the source platform is still publishing the calendar and that the URL has not been regenerated.

  • If the URL is valid and it still will not sync, contact Lodgix support with the property and the feed URL.
