In order for the Lodgix WordPress plugin to work properly, Google requires everyone to have a valid API key. The key can be quickly and easily created from Google’s API Console.

Here is a video we created that outlines the process:

  1. Open the Google Developers Console

  2. From the dropdown list, choose “Create a Project

  3. Click the “Continue” button and wait for a few seconds (might take up to 15 seconds and it will seem like nothing is happening!)

  4. You will see “Add credentials to your project

  5. Select the "Maps Javascript API" and the click on the button "What credentials do I need?"

Copy the API key that is generated (see arrow below) and click "Done"

*Please note that it might take several minutes before your new API key becomes functional.

IMPORTANT NOTE!!

Google Cloud billing account required.

Before you can start using the Google Maps API key, you will also need to set up your Google billing account.

Don’t worry – Google still offers a $200 free monthly usage which is more than enough for 99% of the users.

Here are some more link on pricing & plans, or setting up budgets & alerts within Google.

Once the API key has been generated, the Google Maps Javascript API enabled and a Google Billing account setup and linked to your new project, the key should be active and ready for use!

PASTE THE GOOGLE API KEY INTO THE DESIGNATED FIELD WITHIN THE LODGIX PLUGIN

  1. Log into WordPress

  2. Go to Properties > Lodgix Settings

  3. Paste your Google API key into the Google Maps API key field

  4. Click button to "Save All Changes"

If the maps are generating an error. then one of two things has occurred:

  1. A google billing profile was not established...or...

  2. The Maps Javascript API was not enabled for your API Key,
